Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does BOKS stand for?
Great question! BOKS is an acronym for BUILD OUR KIDS’ SUCCESS as well as a friendly nod to our amazing partner, Reebok!

2. What are the different types of programming you offer? My school is K-8, are your activities appropriate for this?
Absolutely! BOKS provides programming that serves kids from Kindergarten through High School. See our BOKS Resources document to learn more!

3. Is the BOKS program only available to schools?
Not at all! Anyone can sign up for the BOKS program! We have resources that can be used almost anywhere – at home, in schools and at community youth centers. We have activities for both indoors and outdoors. Parents, educators and community youth organization staff have many options to get kids moving with BOKS resources!

4. I am interested in getting trained in the BOKS program. Do you offer online trainings?
YES! We offer a variety of online trainings and they are free to anyone who has signed up for BOKS. Our trainings include ‘New Trainer Onboarding’ as well as program specific trainings for our Early Childhood, Elementary, and Middle School programs.
If you are not currently signed up for our free program, SIGN UP now to access all our trainings and resources!

5. What is the cost of BOKS?
Our favorite question to answer! All of BOKS resources and trainings are 100% FREE.

6. Do you offer grants?
We realize that many communities may require some funding to help support the implementation of their BOKS program. We do provide grant funding to eligible schools in underserved communities – this programming will be launching in the Fall of 2021. Please visit our GRANTS page on our Trainer Hub for more information. In the event you are not eligible to receive a grant from BOKS, remember that the BOKS program is still 100% free to sign up and to use. Many of our games, activities, and movement breaks are equipment free as well.

7. Our school/org works with children of all abilities, is your program adaptable?
Such an important question! We believe that all kids benefit from being part of a safe, fun environment that builds skills through play. Many children face obstacles that can affect how they learn and grow. Each child brings their own strengths, challenges, and abilities to your BOKS class. Our goal is to provide opportunities for ALL children to participate in an inclusive and empowering environment, even when they may be starting from different places. As such, we are proud to have partnered with Special Olympics to further enhance our program to serve children of ALL ABILITIES. We include General Strategies for Inclusivity and lots of tips on including Students with Intellectual and Physical Disabilities in all of our programming and trainings serving kids from kindergarten through high school.

8. We are located outside of Canada and the United States. Is BOKS available to us? And if so, do you offer translation services?
Glad you asked! BOKS is available to anyone, anywhere but our resources are currently only available in English and French. We offer a curated selection of our resources in Spanish as well. We currently do not offer translation services. For more information on international BOKS programming, click HERE.
